AVX designed the MAV Series Miniature AC Varistors for transient suppression in LC resonant circuits intended for signal and power transfer. MAV Series devices provide low loss in the resonant circuit and clamp large amounts of transients in a bidirectional manner. With the ability to handle large transients, the MAV Series devices are useful in low power AC circuit protection. AEC Q200 qualified and ESD rated to 25kV (HBM ESD Level 6), AVX MAV Series Miniature AC Varistors are well-suited for automotive, AC sampling circuitry, transformer secondaries, multiplex BUS Systems, immobilizers, and GFI module applications.

KYOCERA AVX TransGuard® Multilayer Varistors provide a wide range of reliable SMT components for bidirectional overvoltage protection with the advantage of EMI/RFI attenuation in the off-state for professional, industrial, and commercial applications. TransGuard MLVs are zinc oxide (ZnO) based ceramic semiconductor devices with non-linear voltage-current characteristics (bi-directional) similar to back-to-back Zener diodes. These KYOCERA AVX MLVs have the added advantage of more significant current and energy handling capabilities, speedy turn-on time, multiple strikes capability, and EMI/RFI attenuation in the off-state.
