EDC/EDS Electric Double-Layer Supercapacitors

Cornell Dubilier (CDE) EDC/EDS Long-Life Electric Double-Layer Supercapacitors offer high capacitance values in a through-hole stacked coin-type package. The EDC and EDS components are primarily designed for integrated circuit voltage backup. The capacitors can also be used to deliver the initial power from batteries. These compact, high-capacitance devices are designed around an activated carbon anode and cathode with an organic electrolyte. The electric double-layer capacitors (EDLC) yield large storage capabilities with values from 0.047F to 1.5F. This CDE series provides instantaneous backup power for memory circuitry in a compact size, aiding in product design flexibility.

Supercapacitors

Cornell Dubilier (CDE) Supercapacitors are also known as ultracapacitors, double-layer capacitors, or electro-chemical double layer capacitors (EDLC). These supercapacitors offer a comprehensive range of capacitance values and voltages. The utilized CDE technology is used in various applications, from battery backup in smart meters to regenerative braking. Ranging from board-mountable coin types to radial form factors, these supercapacitors provide high-voltage modules with active or passive balancing.
