Indoor LED Lighting Circuit Protection

The components are reliable and capable of protecting computer and consumer electronics against temporary overcurrent faults. Package size varies from 0402 to 3425, while the current hold ranges from 50mA to 7.0A. The Littelfuse PolySwitch SMD product family is qualified to strict automotive standards (following the AECQ200 specification). As a result, these PTCs are suitable for protecting Electronic Control Units (ECUs) against damage from faults that would otherwise require costly, complete module replacement.

PolySwitch Resettable Devices

Littelfuse PolySwitch and POLY-FUSE Devices are Polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient (PPTC) devices that offer a resettable overcurrent protection alternative, reducing warranty, service, and repair costs. PTCs increase resistance as temperature increases due to increased flow. The components are designed to limit unsafe currents while allowing constant safe current levels, resistance will "reset" automatically when the fault is removed, and temperature returns to safe levels. The ability of the PTCs to reset themselves after exposure to a fault current makes them ideal within circuits that are not easily accessible. PTCs are typically used as circuit protection in applications where sensitive components are at constant risk of damage from overcurrent conditions. The components are also ideal for situations where frequent overcurrent conditions occur or constant uptime is required. Low Rho SMD PPTCs

Featuring a compact design, these fuses offer fast response times to fault currents with a maximum fault current rating of 40A. Littelfuse Low Rho SMD PPTCs are compatible with high-temperature solders and are available in a range of hold current ratings. These TUV- and UL-certified fuses are well-suited for USB peripherals including USB 3.0/2.0 ports, Li-ion/Li-Polymer battery packs, smartphones, tablet/notebook PCs, e-readers, LCD/LED HDTV, hard disk drives, digital/video cameras, computer peripherals, and game consoles.
