Vishay offers high-temperature resistors, capacitors, inductors, and semiconductors. In oil and gas drilling, the instrumentation is exposed to harsh environments, including extreme temperatures, pressure, moisture, shock, and vibration. Once commissioned, the instrumentation must be relied upon to function for 5 to 10 years, and be powered at very high temperatures with no maintenance. The components used for this instrumentation must be able to withstand these harsh conditions while maintaining accuracy. Failure of the data would necessitate its removal for repairs, causing costly delays. RS & NS Industrial Wirewound Resistors

Vishay / Dale RS and NS Industrial Wirewound Resistors provide high reliability, an all-welded construction, and high-temperature capability. These silicone-coated, axial lead resistors offer precision power, excellent stability in operation with <0.5% typical resistance shift, high-temperature coating (>350°C), and down to ±20ppm/°C temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR). Both series meet the applicable requirements of MIL-PRF-26. Other features include a 0.4W to 13W power rating, 0.1Ω to 273KΩ resistance value range, and ±0.05% to ±10% tolerance range. The resistors are available in non-inductive styles (type NS) with Ayrton-Perry winding for the lowest reactive components. Applications for Vishay / Dale RS and NS Industrial Wirewound Resistors include DC/DC converters, AC/DC inverters, high-voltage bleeders, motor speed controls, electrical loads, current shunts, and more.
